How to Write Quality Blog Posts Faster

It’s not easy to find the time to write blog posts. There is always something to do, whether it be a meeting or responding to social media messages. You may also have other tasks that you can’t get out of your head and keep coming back at you. And what’s worse is the amount of time you’ll likely spend staring at a blank screen.

You want to create more blog content, but it just takes so friggin long to do. How can you create quality blog posts in a shorter amount of time?

My answer as a 15+ year blogger might surprise you.

Speeding up the blog writing process

Blog posts are a valuable asset to your website, whether you are “just a blogger”, or you’re selling your own products. But let’s be real… it’s costing you a lot of time. These tips are going to help you spend less time writing blog posts. And I would know… because these strategies have helped me to reduce the time spent on blog content as well. Here’s 5 of my best tips to help you write blog posts faster.

Spend more time on the blog post outline and less time on the actual content writing

Remember in school when teachers pestered you to create an outline for your papers? Mine were so adamant about it that I remember having to show my work – giving them my outline before I could begin writing.

Turns out… there’s a method to that madness. 😅 If you spend time writing your outline, you’ll be able to write your blog post a lot faster, while also remaining on topic.

This blog post was written from an outline! I listed all of my major talking points, and now I’m just filling in the blanks with paragraphs. It’s sooo much easier to write this way, and I won’t accidentally veer off topic.

Write a blog post in one sitting – not over multiple days

Are you guilty of starting a blog post and stopping… leaving it to be finished until tomorrow? You’re not alone in this. In fact, I just had to have a talk with myself because I considered doing the same. If you’re going to start a blog post… FINISH IT!

Doing all of the work in a single day will keep you focused on the task, and it’ll get done faster. You won’t have to spend time tomorrow remembering where you were at in writing your post, or get back into the blog writing mindset and groove.

Follow a list of blog writing steps

You can save yourself a lot of time by following easy blog writing steps in the correct order. The steps don’t change, but it’s easy to become overwhelmed and stare at your screen with a blank “duh” face while you try to remember what the heck order to do things in.

Kind of like when I’m in the shower and I can’t remember if I should wash my face before I put conditioner in my hair, or vice versa. Oh, just me? 😅

Blog Writing Made Easy

Let Artificial Intelligence help you

This is maybe going to blow your mind a bit, but would you believe that an AI named Jasper helped me write this blog post? Don’t worry… all of the main paragraphs were written by me (including that bit about the shower ), but Jasper took my blog post idea and came up with major talking points so I could stay on topic. I’m merely filling in the blanks!

This isn’t the first time Jasper has come to my aid. Check out this video (feel free to watch it on a faster speed – I am Verbose AF) to see how I used it to write a holiday blog post for one of my other websites, Simple Low Carb.

Keep your topic simple and straightforward

Have you ever gotten halfway through reading someone’s blog post and you’re feeling kind of overwhelmed by it?

  • It feels crazy long… too long… well past even Google’s length recommendation.
  • You’re not really sure what the blog post is about anymore because it feels like the topic has changed.
  • There’s a feeling like you want to exit the post because at this point, you’re problem isn’t getting solved.

It’s important to keep your topic simple, and to know exactly what it is before you write it. Otherwise. you’ll start to feel like since to provided Snippet 1, you have to also give them Snippet 2 while writing. It’s exhausting… and so many bloggers fall into the trap of not actually putting in the time to know what their blog post is really about before they start writing it.

Have more time for writing quality blog posts

It used to take me anywhere from 6-8 hours to write a blog post. There’s all the time spent on making decisions, keyword research, actually focusing on the creation of the content and writing… not to mention all of the graphics and visuals that come after.

Would you believe that I wrote this blog post in only 3 hours? – And that includes the amount of time I spend recording this video for you all about Jasper, editing it in Adobe Premiere, and uploading it to my YouTube channel. That’s a BIG difference!

It’s all thanks to to following my trusty blog writing steps, these simple tricks, and well, we can’t forget about Jasper – thanks buddy.
